Throughout 2025, GFC’s generous community of donors, fundraisers, and partners have deepened their involvement with our mission, going far beyond just making a gift. The result: A profound impact on all aspects of cancer care, making a meaningful difference for THOUSANDS of cancer patients, families, and caregivers this year.
Improvements in treatment options, nutritious food on a family’s table, removal of barriers to care, a cherished moment of happiness — these are just a few of the outcomes YOU made possible, often at the most difficult time in a person’s life! |

Stacey Iofredo Boston Marathoner One year ago, Stacey was preparing to run the 2025 Boston Marathon with Team GFC. After experiencing a medical emergency that
required heart surgery, Stacey’s plans were unfortunately put on hold. What might have derailed most marathon dreams only deepened her resolve! She’s back as the leader of our 2026 Boston Marathon team, running to honor her dad, a cancer survivor. |

| Ari Marcus JAX Golf Marathoner If we had a GFC ‘Rookie of the Year', Ari Marcus would be our nominee. Playing in his first JAX Golf Marathon, Ari raised both awareness and funding as a
next-gen leader. Inspired to get involved after the recent loss of his father to pancreatic cancer, Ari harnessed his love of the game and shared his personal experience with the disease to raise over $5,000 while playing 100 holes in one day |

No one should worry about where their next meal is coming from – especially when living with cancer! Food insecurity has become a health crisis, with the most vulnerable cancer patients deciding between buying groceries or medications.
Last month, GFC mobilized to provide emergency funding to two leading partners addressing food insecurity: Family Reach and the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. This ensured that families could put food on the table AND continue their treatment, focusing on what matters most - their health. |

"It's the worst as a father not to be able to provide. I'm not talking wants, I'm talking needs. I've been donating plasma to try to recoup more money. I've dumpster dived for non-expired food, door-dashed, and Insta-carted. I have no shame when it comes to providing for my family. They deserve so much more than what I'm able to provide." ~ Father to a 13-year-old Family Reach patient recipient fighting leukemia |

HEALTH EQUITY – PROSTATE CANCER |
|
|
The truth is, NO ONE SHOULD BE DYING FROM PROSTATE CANCER! A highly treatable disease with a 95% survival rate when diagnosed early, prostate cancer disproportionally affects Black men, with 1 in 6 diagnosed during their lifetime, and a 2.1 times higher risk of dying from the disease than white men.
In response to these glaring statistics, GFC launched The Boston Black Men’s Prostate Cancer Initiative, a collaborative public health campaign and patient support program aimed at addressing disparities in prostate cancer early detection, treatment access, and survival rates. |
| |
|
Earlier this year, the campaign successfully launched across the city, and a Prostate Cancer Community Rally was held at Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury, MA. Attended by over 150 local community members, 78 men completed free PSA screenings. We look forward to sharing Phase 2 of the project initiatives in early 2026. |

PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH |

Unlike the vast improvements for adults facing cancer, very few treatments have been approved for children. Beat Childhood Cancer is working to change that fact for the 14,000 kids who will be diagnosed this year. In 2025, GFC provided $320,000 to the innovative team at Beat Childhood Cancer, funding life-saving research, accelerating clinical trials, and offering personalized support to every child and family.
Opening two new clinical trials this year for kids battling Ewing sarcoma, aimed at not just slowing cancer growth, but attacking the disease at its metabolic core, BCC is bringing new hope to families for children with limited treatment options. |
| |
|
“Thanks to our precision medicine program, we are finding similarities between pediatric solid tumor cancers and learning how to leverage less-toxic treatments and drug combinations aimed at helping kids survive and thrive.” ~ Dr. Giselle Sholler, Chair of the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium

GFC prioritizes supporting our community with efforts to honor or memorialize loved ones. In 2025, youth led the way! Shortly after their father’s passing from Glioblastoma, Eli and Wyatt Warn rallied a group of friends to register for our annual New England Golf Marathon.
‘Team Dan’ was made up of eight teenagers who collectively raised an impressive $75,000 for Glioblastoma research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Dan Warn. In the past ten years, GFC has invested more than $1.1 million in Glioblastoma research at DFCI, helping to establish The Virginia Hood Dreier Fund, The Warn Family Fund, and The Dave Hovey CRUS11TOUR Fund. |

"The GFC golf marathon was a fun way to support an amazing cause. It was awesome to be able to honor our dad and raise a significant amount of money for brain cancer research.” ~ Eli & Wyatt Warn |

When a natural disaster strikes, families already in crisis due to cancer face unimaginable hardship! In January 2025, the California Wildfires destroyed over 18,000 homes and businesses, significantly impacting many families living with the disease. GFC responded by providing emergency funding to established community partners, distributing critical aid to cancer patients in greatest need.
Through Runway for Recovery’s LA Emergency Grant Fund and Family Reach’s Disaster Relief Fund, support for basic needs, including groceries, hotel stays, rent, clothing, baby supplies, and cell phone bills, was provided to families through social workers at local cancer hospitals. |

A cancer diagnosis turns every aspect of a family’s life upside-down. Treatment and recovery become the leading priority, often limiting moments spent away from the harsh reality of the disease. Our funding to Vineyard Havens, Inc. provides all-expenses-paid vacations on Martha’s Vineyard for families facing cancer, allowing them to rest, reconnect, and create lasting memories.
Camille Wahl, age 22, and her family recently took their last trip together before her passing, which occurred less than a month later. Battling metastatic osteosarcoma for over 12 years, Camille enjoyed precious time with her family, captured in a professional family portrait session. |
| |
|
“Vineyard Havens gave us what would be our last peaceful, happy, and relaxing time together as a family—a trip we could have never taken without the safety net built in by the incredible program’s team. We felt a million miles away, yet close to our treatment center. It was a last visit to the beach, long talks on the porch, and swinging in a hammock. These memories we will never forget.” ~ Colleen Pearson, Camille’s mom |

As this year comes to a close, our team continues to receive grant requests at an alarming rate. The proposals we receive for immediate funding are for direct-to-patient programs addressing essential needs for the most vulnerable populations: pediatric cancer families, the elderly, and lower-income households.
In the spirit of the giving season, we invite our generous community of supporters – those who were with us from the very beginning and those who have joined us more recently – to consider a year-end donation. Together, we can continue to make an immediate impact where it is needed most. |
