Golf Fights Cancer

The Good Guys Good Gals Invitational

Since 2011, The Kavalieros Family has been teaming up with GFC to host the ‘Good Guys Good Gals Invitational’ golf tournament in the Jacksonville area in memory of their daughter, Ellie.

Ellie Kavalieros was diagnosed with DIPG in May 2010;  she passed away on December 25, 2011 at the age of 11. During her 19-month battle, Ellie’s immeasurable bravery, courage and grace were on display. In every way, she embodies the preciousness of these children and the terrible tragedy that occurs each time such tremendous potential is cut short.

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma is a high-grade, inoperable brain tumor that strikes at the heart of childhood. It occurs in pons of the brainstem, and is considered to be the deadliest and most aggressive of all pediatric cancers. Solving DIPG is also believed to hold the key to curing many types of cancer, which is why our work is so critical.
