Golf Fights Cancer

grant PRIORITIES & Guidelines

Golf Fights Cancer is committed to harnessing the collective fundraising power of the entire golf community to make tangible differences across the cancer community.  Specifically, GFC makes targeted donations for services, equipment, research, and/or amenities that make an immediate positive impact on treatment and the experience for both the patient and family.  To date, we’ve granted $12 Million in grant funding to over 75 different cancer-related charities.

SIX PRIORITIES OF GIVING

GFC supports cancer-related 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organizations who make a significant and measurable difference in the lives of individuals and families through direct programs and services within our Six Priorities of Giving:

  1. Early Detection & Education
  2. Palliative Care
  3. Patient-Facing Capital Improvements
  4. Patient & Family Support
  5. Research
  6. Treatment Access

KEY CRITERIA

GFC provides grants to proven or promising nonprofits that share our core values and are highly aligned with our strategies, goals, and approaches. To ensure the impact and effectiveness of our investments, GFC puts a significant focus on the following criteria:

  • Transformation:  With one in three people impacted by cancer in their lifetime, there is a significant focus within the philanthropic community on the disease and its impact. Considering this breadth of generosity, GFC focuses on projects where we can steward the funding of our donors and partners to make a transformational difference. Early-stage projects, harder to fund needs, and underfunded programs are of particular interest.
  • Collaboration:  Identifying barriers, creating solutions, and executing impactful programming requires creative, multi-disciplinary approaches that are often beyond the capacity of a single organization. We are most interested in supporting organizations with a track record of working collaboratively across the cancer community, with a clear plan to include patients, families, and caregivers in their efforts.
  • Financial and Programmatic Capacity:  Applicants must show evidence that they are stable, have a solid financial and program management team, a strong balance sheet and program plans to give us confidence that their work will be sustained beyond our financial commitment.
  • Leadership:  Applicants must possess an active working board of directors who are overseeing strategic direction.
  • Measurable Impact:  We place a high priority on organizations that can clearly articulate organizational goals, present a clear plan for achieving results, and track outcomes and impact on the people and communities served.

LETTER OF INTEREST

Those groups aligned with GFC’s priorities, key criteria and eligibility standards are invited to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) for funding. The LOI should be no more than 800 words and should include:

  • A concise overview of the nonprofit’s mission, impact, programs, and services
  • A short description of the program/project/initiative for which funding is being sought
  • Information about of how individuals, families, and organizations will benefit from the support

Should GFC wish to learn more about the proposed funding opportunity after reviewing the submitted LOI, potential beneficiaries will be invited to complete the full grant application.
